Which subsidy fits me?

Subsidy options for a balance wheelchair (WMO, PGB, UWV)

A balance wheelchair can be financed through:

  • WMO (municipality): for independent living/participation.
  • PGB: self-management over purchase and service.
  • UWV: if you need the chair for work or to commute to work.

How does a WMO application work through the municipality?

Municipalities implement the Social Support Act (WMO) with a specific budget. Since balance wheelchairs often do not fall within the basic assortment, you usually request customization. This is appropriate when:

  • Standard aids do not meet your needs;
  • Alternatives ultimately are more expensive or less suitable than a balance wheelchair.

We help you with clear arguments and the right documents, tailored to your routes and your situation.

Good to see! More and more municipalities are including the balance wheelchair in their procurement. This means that the balance wheelchair is included in the basic assortment and we see that the balance wheelchair is increasingly used as care in kind.

How does reimbursement from the UWV work?

The UWV can reimburse aids that you need at work or to commute to work. Our specialists (occupational therapist, physiotherapist, and advisor) translate your work situations into concrete requirements: maneuverability in offices, lifts/equal height, outdoor routes over cobblestones or grass. We share experiences from previous successful processes and ensure a custom dossier.
