Balancing wheelchair insurance — easy & hassle-free

Are you going onto the public road? Then insurance is mandatory — super logical! On private or company premises, insurance is not necessary, but as soon as you go onto the sidewalk or the road, you want to have it arranged properly.  At 2KERR, we look at your life: what fits, but also how to arrange the insurance smartly — without hassle, with clear choices.

Why do you need to insure a balancing wheelchair?

  • Legal obligation on public roads. Balancing wheelchairs are legally regarded as motor vehicles. This means at least liability coverage when you are outside.
  • Peace of mind in your day. A bump against a car, a post, or an accident in the shopping lane: with the right coverage, you absorb the damage, not your daily rhythm.
  • Clear agreements. Because a balancing wheelchair is not yet known everywhere, misunderstandings and (too) high premiums can arise with general insurers. That’s why 2KERR works with a partner that has created a specific policy for our balancing wheelchairs/Seated Segways.

Reliable partner
Through Van Steensel Assurantiën, you can take out a suitable balancing wheelchair insurance for our range — from ibot duo and ibot PMD to Hoss and Omeo. This way, we prevent ambiguity and unnecessary costs, and you arrange it quickly and effectively.

What does a balancing wheelchair insurance usually cover?

Choose what fits your routes, budget, and preferences.

  • Liability (WA — Wettelijke Aansprakelijkheid) — covers damages to others. Mandatory as soon as you use the public road.
  • Limited Comprehensive (Beperkt Casco) — often covers theft/fire/burglary, sometimes weather or transport damage.
  • Fully Comprehensive (Allrisk) — also covers own damages, such as a steering mistake against a wall or paint damage in the lift.
  • Accessories & modifications — think of seating solutions, lighting, carriers, extra batteries. Check if they are insured.
  • Third-party damage & legal assistance (optional) — handy in case of disputes, for example after a collision in a busy shopping path.

In 3 steps well insured (with 2KERR)

  • Choose your balancing wheelchair + usage scenarios.
During orientation and test drive, we discuss your daily scenes: supermarket, forest path, beach, city, in the car/camper. This determines the risk profile, and we advise suitable coverage.
  • Custom quote through our insurance partner
We send the model- and value specifications (new or second-hand/refurbished), including accessories. You will receive a clear quote with liability, (Limited) Comprehensive and optional modules.
  • Quickly arranged, ready to drive
Do you agree? Then you receive your policy and — where necessary — the insurance certificate. You drive with peace of mind to work, the market, or that festival.

What does it cost approximately? (and how to keep it sharp)
Every situation is different (brand, new value, coverage, region, deductible). With these tips, you keep control

  • Choose coverage per use. If you primarily make short city trips, then liability or Limited Comprehensive is often sufficient. Do you often go out (beach/forest/city trips) or have a higher new value (electric wheelchair with many accessories)? Consider Allrisk.
  • Choose a deductible consciously. A slightly higher deductible = lower premium.
  • Include accessories on the policy. Make sure to include modifications, otherwise they are not covered as standard.
  • Annual check. Does your situation change (e.g. different routes or new wheelchair accessories)? Adjust your policy accordingly.
