Fabiënne shares: my festival experience with the Bi-Go balance wheelchair

I had an amazing time. Thanks to the balance technique of the Bi-Go, I could tackle inclines, turn in tight spots, and drive at my own pace. Without my friends, it wouldn’t have been possible: they made space when the crowd got too tight. That team feeling, the music, the atmosphere — that’s why I do it.

“Without limitations” isn’t accurate. From wheelchair height, you can’t see much in a crowd. You easily get elbows in your face, and navigating safely in the crowd is a challenge. I even cried a few times due to situations that became overwhelming — and I can handle quite a bit.

Because I love festivals so much, I say this with love: there is still a lot to gain in festival accessibility. Wheelchair stages and better sightlines make a world of difference. Accessible toilets must be visible and reachable. Ramps and walkways should be standard. And crowd management with safe routes for lower riders provides peace of mind. Shout-out to Handicap.nl—their work truly helps, step by step.
