Since I started using a balance wheelchair, everything has changed completely. I can go to town by myself with the children, pick up forgotten groceries, and join family outings with friends or family. My recovery time is shorter, and I have energy left over again. I am physically present at debate and council meetings, information evenings, and party gatherings. In short: I am actively participating in society again. And the cherry on top, I can enjoy the beach and nature again—escaping the daily hustle for a bit.

The first moment I really felt the difference? When I quickly went to pick up a forgotten item by myself, without asking my husband or eldest child. I felt as free as a cow let out to pasture for the first time after winter. That small piece of independence gave me an enormous smile.

Of course, everything still costs energy—some days remain a challenge. But because I can participate in activities again thanks to the balance wheelchair, it also gives me energy back. It demands less from my body and gives me so much in return: independence, freedom, and quality of life. I'm once again the mother who goes along again, the partner who participates, and the citizen who is present.
