Since the ibot, that has changed. The first time I went up in balance mode and spontaneously looked someone in the eye, something simple yet great happened: the conversation changed. I didn't have to wait for someone to kneel down or sit beside me; I was simply part of it. Talking at a standing table without any tricks. Checking out calmly at the cashier without straining my neck. Chatting with the neighbor over the hedge. These are small moments, but together they make my day brighter.
Practically, a lot has been gained as well. Shopping is no longer a route full of detours. I maneuver smoothly through the aisles, turn quickly without requiring the whole line to shuffle, and can—thanks to the height—easily access what I need. At the town hall or at a counter, I no longer have to ask if someone can bend down to me; I can reach it myself. When visiting friends, I sit easily at the dining table and when it gets pleasantly busy, I can slide back or up for a better overview. That provides calmness. And confidence.

The ibot is not just "an additional aid" for me, but a different way of moving. I ride stably over cobblestones, take a curb that I used to have to avoid, and I can place myself where it socially makes sense: not on the edge, but right in the middle of the conversation. There are too many examples to mention, but a few stand out. Navigating the market aisles without constantly asking if someone can grab something for me. Working safely at height in the kitchen at home—finally using that top cabinet. In the sports canteen with friends at the standing table, simply joining the conversation. It may sound small, but this is exactly where life happens.
Of course, an ibot is a significant investment. But for me, it's simple: this is not a luxury product, this is my mobility—my independence. And what that brings, I feel every day. Asking for less help. Making fewer plans around limitations. Doing more by myself. The result is visible in how I behave: I take initiative more quickly, I join others more easily, I choose my place in the space. That gives confidence. And yes, also joy—because life is more enjoyable when you don’t constantly need to think about what you can’t do.
I took the step to the ibot together with 2KERR. What I appreciated: they look at my routes and rhythm. Not just “can it be done technically?”, but especially “does it work for your day?”. During the trial sessions, we practiced situations I recognized: grocery shopping, counter visits, birthdays, and café outings. This made the decision clear. The following guidance—from explanation to aftercare—ensured that I feel safe and secure in everyday use.
Today, my life is not suddenly frictionless—MS and the consequences of the stroke are still present. But the difference is that I am back in the midst of life: at the standing table, at the counter, among my people. And that I can simply participate.

At 2KERR, we show what people can do. That’s why we are extremely grateful to Jody for participating in the photoshoot for our new website. With real situations—from grocery shopping to the beach—Jody demonstrates what a balance wheelchair means in daily life: independence, participation, and joy. Thus, our website is created not only for the customer, but especially by the customer.
